In accordance with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humber_Pig#Deployment I'm going to give MY 1960 to all Humbers FV 1611. (Rootes jewels too, dsl?) Och, nothing too precise about the Mk.II, only 'early 70s'… Somebody would have a MY to give for them? -- Last edit: 2015-05-19 01:40:22 |

It looks as if Pigs were only made 1959-60. The Mk2 was an upgrade conversion fitted in the 70s to existing Pigs as needed for army use. And some Pigs (FV 1611) may have been similar conversions of older FV 1601. But I'm not sure of these details - various stories online seem to differ or be a bit vague. Rootes-jewels is a broad church - it can embrace some uncut diamonds. |

The hulls were manufactured by GKN Sankey at Hadley Castle Works, the mechanicals were Rolls-Royce B-series free issued to the project by MoD, and the assembly was done at the Tilling Stevens works at Maidstone, hence the choice of the "Humber" badging. /vehicle_495596-Humber-FV-1611-1960.html -- Last edit: 2015-05-21 21:38:29 |
