Since 1972. Wagon was also usually called "Universal" (here and in Czechoslovakia for example). |

In SU too. |

Yes? So worth to be added to already listed cars. |

I'm not sure. Its just a body type, not part of name IMHO. |

Used as part of name in price lists - in the mentioned countries ("universal" is not a common name for wagon in Polish, in fact there were only 2 universals here IIRC - trabant and vaz). How do you call wagons in Russian? Edit: Ok I see something (google translate) - "легковой автомобиль с кузовом 'универсал'" - universal ![]() -- Last edit: 2012-10-13 23:48:29 |

Thats from my 1979 Short Auto Handbook ![]() Universal not using as part of name only as body type. About Kombi - yes there was such a badge 'Комби' on IZh's Link to "fotki.yandex.ru" -- Last edit: 2012-10-13 23:57:44 |

Ok, so we are in the point zero - as name "universal" did some career abroad of SU (with VAZ/Ladas):![]() ![]() |

Well, yes. I just thought you talked about how called this type of body. |
◊ 2012-10-14 00:14 |
No, in my first comment, I meant this particular model of VAZ only (and the official name). |

By the way the Volga's 24-02 for some reason called here Universal as part of name. /vehicles.php?make=GAZ&model=24-02+Volga+Universal&modelMatch=1&modelInclModel=on I think it dont. |

That's true, but it was called like that in Soviet(!) brochure - not in text, but in title. OK - I know it might be a bit tricky, but generally we use such names as part of the model name. http://tocmp.org/gaz2402.htm |

I see. On the second page theres 'Universal' apart from model name, as body type. |
