By the grille bar, I'd go for 1983-84 GMC Suburban |

Agree. 1983-1984 GMC Suburban Sierra Classic (C-2500) Almost painted like "Lucy Panzer", which would have been in the Alcan 5000 Rally in 1985. Lucy Panzer was a 1984 GMC Suburban Sierra Classic (K-2500) that set a world-record in 1984 when it drove from the bottom of Africa to the top of Europe (28 days, 13 hours, 10 minutes) in the Africa-Arctic Challenge with Garry Sowerby behind the wheel. Sowerby is credited for naming the historic Suburban Lucy Panzer after developing a bond with it during the off road event. Lucy in the Alcan 5000 Rally... ...also note the Volkswagen GTI (don't know the model year) and the other car, not sure what it is. -- Last edit: 2012-05-25 02:28:40 |

Very interesting info there Neptune, never knew there was once a GMC Suburban that broke a Guinness World Record. |

Apparently, Kenya was in a state of unrest at the time, and Lucy became a target for some bandits. It finished the trip with a few bullet holes... |

For more info: Lucy’s Garage Has quite an accomplished history. Garry Sowerby refers to her as a "old-friend". |
