This Suburban has the 1989 model year front end cosmetic update, the last cosmetic update the rounded-line utilities and remaining Crew Cab pickups would ever get. The independent front suspension (IFS) with contoured lower control "A" arms and coil springs is visible. Rear-wheel anti-lock brake system (ABS) was added for the 1990 model year.
