I would say 1954 Studebaker Regal. I'm not sure which model, I'd guess the man is covering the best (only?) way to spot it? |

Yes, he is covering up where the V-8 emblem would be to show whether or not this is a Commander or Champion. But not to worry. We know this is a Commander Land Cruiser regardless, owing to the vented rear door windows. However, this is a '53, not a '54. Note the small rear fender spear. The '54 Land Cruisers had a much heavier and longer spear, as did all Regal-trimmed models that year. -- Last edit: 2012-04-12 04:29:07 |

Here's an unimpeded view of the front fender:![]() |

I thought it had the 1954 bumper over riders and worked my way from there, I did think it was strange with the rear ventilation windows though... |

Those overriders are incorrect for 1953 models. Since the car was fairly new at the time of the movie, it was likely a case of where the selling dealer installed different guards at the purchaser's request or perhaps they were substituted later. In fact, they don't really look like Studebaker guards at all from here. If it was a modern movie, I would just conclude that an incorrect restoration had been done. |

I need to change that. Did some looking through my Studebaker photo collection and realized I was thinking about the coupe/hardtop guards which were indeed small. The sedans did have larger guards, albeit not as large as the '54's. Best I can tell, the subject car does have the correct guards for a sedan. -- Last edit: 2012-04-12 17:40:05 |
