IIRC Both, 100 and 2000 were called "5000" but in 1989 they got the same name than in Europe. |

Due to doorhandels, its a '88 - '90 model. Pre '88 MY has different door handels. And due to the unintended acceleration incident, Audi renamed all post '88 MY 5000 into 100 and 200. So it's either an Audi 100 or 200. I go for 100. |

@ blue thunder: yes, the Typ 44 facelift came in 1988 in Europe, but it was available only since 1989 (maybe from the end of 1988, but still '89 MY) in the USA |
