Land-Rover 88" Series III (1971-84). |

This vehicle is a 1968/71 series 2A 88", dressed up as a Series 3. Points in favour of my claim: - series 2 hinges on the doors and windscreen. Points against: - Series 3 plastic grill. The non-dating registration is a little confusing. This vehicle should have a G, H or J plate. |

Indeed, it is an S2a with a newer S3 grille. |

The windscreen hinges also show it is a Series 2 or 2A, but I'm not sure about it being a 1969-71 headlights in the wings model. The pre-suffix reg number might be it is a Series 2 or early 2A (pre 1963) with Series 3 wings and front panel fitted. This was very common in the 1970s and early 1980s when the Series 2/2A was just and old Land Rover and most owners wanted the them to look much newer than they actually were. Happily those days have gone. Better still, very few now want to make their Series 2 or 3 look like a Defender, but would rather keep them looking original. |

Military front bumper and (I think, because it is hard to see in the capture) HD military rear cross-member suggest a demobbed military vehicle with later front end. |
