E Series Cresta |

This car carries the revised frontal treatment introduced for 1955. It is not a Wyvern as it has the chrome strip immediately under the front of the bonnet, which is painted on the four cylinder car. The side chrome strip is shown clearly in the thumbnail provided by Atom, to stop short of the back wing moulding, but the car has rear wheel spats only present on the six cylinder cars as standard. If the car were a Cresta, the chrome strip would carry on above the back wheel arch to allow for what Vauxhall called their "three phase dual colour scheme", but was still present on single colour cars. It is therefore suggested that this car is a 1955 or 1956 Vauxhall E Series Velox, the 1957 models having a further change to their front panels. |

"john from Staffs" is right. This is a Vauxhall Velox EIPV of 1956. Because of wider front screen and ornament between rear window and rear door it is a Velox of 1956, not 1955. |
