Nope, that's an '89-'91 Ford Taurus SHO. Sucks they had to destroy it.

I would have prefered that they destroy one more Taurus than the Volvo 740 :D

If it was a regular Taurus, I'd be inclined to agree with you. But this is an SHO, it's about as close to goodness the Taurus got.

I did not know it was a special version ;)
What did it have different from a "normal" Taurus?

Most of it was the engine, a Yamaha V6 with 220hp. Doesn't sound like much (my old Intrepid had 214hp, and that was the base model, albeit with an optional engine), but it was through a 5-speed manual (at the time, the only model with a stick, although it was also available on an older I4 model), in a car that weighted about 3200lbs (so basically, it was barely slower than a Mustang at the time). I'm sure they did a bit of suspension work, it was marginally nicer inside. Typical sports sedan treatment.

On the other hand, even if this Taurus was wrecked, at least the most important part is intact, to be shoehorned into a Festiva or something.

You can tell it's a SHO version by the gap (for extra air cooling) on the lower side of the grill on the front.

Better a Taurus then a Tempo.

As I said earlier, if this were a normal Taurus, I wouldn't care. But this Taurus is more interesting than any Tempo that Ford built (once they stuck the V6 in the Tempo, it got close, but it still just wasn't as cool).

Ah ben forcément, elle va marcher beaucoup moins bien comme ça...

en tout cas, il semble que la ligne totalement révolutionnaire, d'un aérodynamisme décoiffant, de la Taurus, vienne de recevoir quelques modifications bienvenues!

If you look at the "before" pic of the rear, this car's been hit in the butt once before?? (nothing is straight) Also: while it has a lot of SHO-like trim (like its grille & bumpers)the side trim, wheels & exhaust don't look "quite right"??? I did see many that had "body kits" put on them, maybe body kit on regular Taurus??? Also was a "rare"(And for good reason!!)Police Package!!!

Indeed it does look as if it was previously hit in the rear (or at least damaged somehow) You are certainly right.

It is a first gen SHO, but if you look at the front it appears that there is no engine in the car since the front sits up higher than it should, even being in a rear collision. What is in the back window? Also, further into the chase there is another SHO parked on the side of the street that get flipped and crushed when the crane is knocking over power poles. I just don't know why they picked SHOs to wreck. The SHOs are rare. They would have had to seek out SHOs specially whereas regular first gen Tauruses would have been easy to get a hold of.

Look at the B-pillars on the car and you will notice that they are painted body color. The B-pillars should be black. This means the car has been re-painted. It may have been a salvage car (due to the visible rear damage before the first impact) that they painted and wrecked for the movie. The initial damage seems minor, but due to the entire trunk leaning to one side, that is indicative of the car's unibody damage which cannot be repaired.

Better a Taurus than a Tempo? Are you serious?! The Tempo was horrible. The Taurus was the best selling car in America from 1987-1996 and was the car that saved Ford Motor Company from bankruptcy in the 80s. It was a great car, and Ford admitted that when they brought the name back after retiring it briefly.

NO! WHY THE SHO! The 1st gen 5-speed SHO was the only decent Taurus made!
