This type of bus is difficult to identify since different coachbulders of the period built very similar bodies, the larger buscompanies even had their own so called standard bodies that were built by different coachbuilders for maybe 10 years with small differences. This one resembles SJ´s standardbody built between 1938-47 by ASJ, SKV or Hägglunds on both Volvo and Scania-Vabis chassis, but since there is either a destination or the company name written on the side of the bus visible on the second thumb I believe it belongs to another company. After comparing pictures in some books I have I´m leaning towards the coachbuilder SMV (Svenska Maskin Verken, Södertälje) for this one, possibly on a Scania-Vabis 8422 chassis. |
