For example Peerless, a name which belonged to both an American and a British car manufacturer. Or Tempo, which was a German manufacturer of trucks and a Norwegian manufacturer of motorcycles. As the companies aren't meant to be confused and have different model names for their products there's practically no reason to change either one.
