zodiac ◊ 2023-10-09 14:34	1983+ because of the plastic cover of the bumper. U.S. Volvo's skipped the digits, and called their models DL, GL and so on. The GL had a chromed grille and several extras like colour coordinated upholstery, while the DL was an entry level. This can be both a DL and a GL, but as there're not enough to tell I'd suggest the the entry level is the one to go for. Hence I believe this is a 1983+ Volvo DL [244].

According to Link to "www.volvotips.com" which is a U.S./Canada 1983 brochure, all models sold in the U.s: had these black covers, while the ones sold in Canada had the old bumpers. That can be read on the last page, under the headline VOLVO, in the last paragraph on the right hand side.
