 Close, but no cigar.

15 is the cabriolet, 9 is the model year (as in 79), 2 is a fill digit and finally this is the 1407th car of the model year - so late 1978 registration seems right. Model year (as we list by) is 1979.

We don't use (VW didn't) the engine size, they were all 1303 LS
