The size of the rear window reveals a MkI shell. Although this type of boot is shared with the MkII, the rear badges belong to a MkI. So, I would say that this is a MkI car (1966 with these door handles) "updated" with the larger rear lights and a grille that doesn't belong to a Cooper MkII (only the Cooper MkIII used this 11-bar grille). -- Last edit: 2007-01-24 01:00:33 |

A beautiful Austin Mini Cooper S MKI with the blue California license plate JRB used by Officer Jon Baker during the first season of Chips. JAB stands for Jonathan Andrew Baker. -- Last edit: 2009-07-15 06:12:32 |

This face belongs to a post '67 Mini, so absolutely not MKI. We usually name MKI the very first era 1959-1966. Mini Cooper appeared in 1961 and Cooper S in 1963. So Cooper S MKI should be named a 1963-1966 example not a later one. -- Last edit: 2009-03-29 21:39:18 |

... and it has external door-hinges and (I think) sliding windows, so Mk.I. The grille looks like an aftermarket fitment with provision for auxiliary lamps (not IIRC a factory item, but I can't remember who made them). It also seems to have the later combined side-(/parking) lights/flashers(/turn signals), which I fitted to my Mk.I 850. |
