No, it is not. Compare the side window shapes, the thickness of the front windscreen pillar, and the shape of the boot lid. I suspect it is a Silver Wraith with coachbuilt body, but am going to struggle to identify it from the view available. /vehicle_51836-Rolls-Royce-Silver-Cloud-I.html -- Last edit: 2022-08-01 17:30:13 |

Sorry, thought it looked like one. For the next time, please put 'unknown' in the model field, otherwise it will not show up in the unidentified list. |

The copyright date of the film is 1956, so making the possibility of this being a Silver Cloud even less. |

I didn't take that into account given the presence of several new-for-1956 models such as the Regal van, the Squire, the Anglia 100E with 56+ taillights, the Trojan and the Minx VIIIa. |

The Squire/Escort was introduced in October 1955, probably for the Earl’s Court Motor Show as were the modifications to the saloons. The Phase VIIIA Minx was Sept 1955. A coachbuilt Royce would probably take a year to complete and the first Silver Cloud chassis was not available until 25 April 1955. This would suggest that the coachbuilt saloon above is a Silver Wraith, and just possibly HJM, but I’m not really convinced. -- Last edit: 2022-08-01 18:50:04 |

I will review, with the possibility of its being a James Young body, tomorrow 2/8/22. |

From my RR picture book, I agree strong similarity to James Young Wraith, and no obvious alternatives within its photo selection. My best shot is design WRM31 (28 cars built) for window shapes, high waistline flourish across doors and single swage line; artists impression of earlier WRM30 for instance has double swage. But not totally convinced by "my" example of WRM31 which has a more rounded rear quarter window (a bit pizza slice curve) than the D-like profile apparent here. Maybe WRM31 had minor variations?? |

/vehicle.php?id=1680804. Try this one. WRM 30 had double swage lines, WRM 31 had single, WRM 31A single + a division so more limousine than saloon. And this one for the rear windscreen. /v015712.html -- Last edit: 2022-08-02 09:20:11 |
