Light green one is a 1963 Buick, but I can't decide if it's a LeSabre or a Wildcat (I'm not sure if that's Wildcat trim on the side and rear, or just reflections).

Looks like a VW "squareback" parked in the lead spot (sorry if already mentioned). I know the page is for the Buick hardtop.

That petrol/gas station probably dates to the 1920s. You won't see those too often at the present time, especially in downtown areas. Sixcyl, that's for you!

far background behind the gas station seems to be Mercedes dealership

I don't think so Phil. Wildcats in 1963 were only hardtops and convertibles. This really looks like a sedan. I think what people are seeing as trim is actually a refection of the top of the wall in front of the church. I vote that this is a LeSabre. Comments??

It's a hardtop. The hardtops still had window frames in 1963 (except the new Buick Riviera), the pillared sedan had a different roofline, the rear windows were more rounded on the top than those of the hardtop sedan. The LeSabre had a different tail panel moulding too.

Here are some 1963 LeSabre pillared sedan pictures

Note the tail panel design, a thin horizontal strip of chrome each side of the Buick emblem and the rest is painted the same color as the body.

another LeSabre sedan, this picture shows well the rounded roofline above the rear door window.

Now a 1963 Wildcat 4dr hardtop. Note the sharper edge above the rear window, the tail panel with a large brushed aluminium trim instead of the small chrome piece on the LeSabre and the "Wildcat" script on the passenger side.

Another 1963 Wildcat (this one's a hardtop coupe).

here's a rare 1963 Wildcat 4 speed hardtop sedan.

Note the 4 speed manual shifter, very few 1963 Wildcat had these transmissions. They were more common in 1964-65.

Yours??

Great photos, philr, at any size! On the side view of the LeSabre, this may be off-topic, but I noticed it only has a small gravel shield on the forward part of the rear wheel opening. This was a common trick on 50s-60s American cars. I did not know Buick and the rest of GM did this sort of thing as late as 1963.

4-speed and a/c...very rare indeed! Great pics, philr.

Oh, and philr, I'd pay anything you might ask to have a copy of your photo collection on a DVD or series of discs. If you find time to take them somewhere for a media transfer, I would be happy to see the results! :)

No, mine is a 1965 Wildcat Custom 4 door hardtop with column shift automatic transmission and a full bench seat... It's quite rare too since it's a canadian model with cloth interior trim that was available at extra cost only on the canadian Wildcat 4 door models in 1965-66. the seat fabric is the same as the one found in the more upscale Electra 225 Custom but with a different pattern and the door panels have metal armrest and door pulls instead of the plastic ones in the other Wildcat models. But it has no cool console like this 1963.

When I'll do a picture backup on my computer, I'll try to copy the pictures I have on a DVD.

Interesting to see the differences between the U.S. and Canadian models. The armrests and power window controls look just like the ones from my friends 1963 Cadillac Series-62 Coupe. Gotta love the way GM recycled trim back then.

please use thumbnails for large pictures (I converted the too-big one to thumbnail, and those posted at 05:50 could also be put in thumbnail actually)

Actually, the armrests and power window controls were also used in the early sixties Buick Electra 225 and they were still used in 1965 on all Electra 225 4 door models and in the base model 1966 Electra 225. But the canadian Wildcat 4 door models were the only "B" bodies to use them in 1965-66. In Canada, only the Wildcat Custom was available in 1965 while in the US, there were also cheaper base and DeLuxe models. Unlike the US models, the canadian Wildcat Custom coupe and convertible still had standard buckets, consoles and tachmeter in 1964-65. The 4 door hardtop had either the vinyl notchback seat (with the same pattern as the Custom coupe's vinyl bucket seats) and plastic armrests like the US model or the cloth interior (at extra cost) like mine. The Wildcat Custom sedan had the cloth interior as standard equipment and it's model number (46669) was unique as the sedan was available only in base and DeLuxe trim on the US market.

All canadian Wildcat models in 1965-66, when ordered with power windows, had power vents too. In the US, power vents were a separate option and it was rarely chosen on this model (and even on the Electra).
