Profile for user car nerd - Country: USA (United States of America)

Hello!

Great website! It really tests my knowledge of cars. I've been in love with cars since the age of 6 (I'm 51 now). I have a good running knowledge of American cars (mid-1950's to present) but also know about some European makes - Especially Audi's, Volkswagens, many Fiats and Alfa Romeos (I'm Italian).

I have owned many cars and loved most of them:
My first car was a 1974 Capri 2.8 V6.
Next up was a 1978 VW Scirocco.
Then I bought a 79 Firebird Formula.
Several ho hum cars followed including a stripper VW Rabbit and a Plymouth Horizon (awful car!).
Then Audi love affair started.
In the late 80's I bought a used 1980 Audi 5000S (Euro 100). This is the worst car I ever loved. She was beautiful in chocolate brown and alloy wheels but, a delicate flower indeed.
In 1990 I bought a loaded 87 Audi 5000CS Turbo (I think this was similar to the Euro 200 Model). Very beautiful, posh and fast but not the most reliable car.
Later on I also owned a very reliable 87 4000S (Euro 80)
Then a flood of Hondas, a Grand Cherokee and -- following a sad turn of fortune -- a very used 95 Corolla with over 250,000 miles on the clock. It just ran and ran and I sold it a year later for more than I paid for it!
Then came a 94 Audi 90S and currently I drive a 2003 Volkswagen Passat 1.8 turbo and an Audi TT 225 Quattro Roadster.

Cars my family was dumb enough to trade-in or sell:
1957 Plymouth Savoy 4-door sedan (pink and white)
1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 Fiesta Hardtop Wagon
1958 Lincoln Continental Mark III convertible
1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz
1962 Plymmouth Sport Fury
1963 Pontiac Grand Prix
1964 Aston Martin DB5 (YES! Traded-in for a 67 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham!!!)
1964 Plymouth Sport Fury with a 383 and a 4-speed floor shift 1964 Dodge Dart GT with 273 V8
1971 Dodge Challenger R/T with a 383 Magnum.

Cars I would love to own:
1959 DeSoto Adventurer Convertible
1960 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible
1960 Imperial LeBaron Hardtop Sedan
1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz
1961 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible
