I don't recall ever seeing a white 6-series in Moonlighting. I do recall seeing a beige and/or silver 635csi, as pictured on this site. I haven't seen Monnlighting aired on TV in a very long time. There is a box set of the 1st season episodes for sale. Just a few avg. interior shots, and minor running footage. I do know for sure, from one episode, that they are using the real sound of a 635csi, could tell by the starter motor (I own a 533i, which sounds identical). Oddly enough I saw this car for sale on eBay in 2005. Forgot what they were asking or location. Probably CA, and over $6K. * In the 1st picture above (top) you can see a US E12 5-series (1977-1981, 528i or 530i) in the back right side.

A video-clip of this 635 csi is available. Bruce Willis drives the heck out of it, and then crashes it several times. A must see, for 6-series enthusiasts!

From, erm, davidandmaddie.com:

"Later in the series, in the episode Come Back Little Shiksa, the original car is destroyed in a fit of rage by David Addison ramming it repeatedly into the walls and poles of the parking garage. Although he has Bert take the car to the shop for repair, it is obvious by anyone paying attention that the particular car is damaged well beyond economic repair. The car destroyed was most certainly NOT one of the actual camera cars, and this was revealed in the commentary track of the DVD of that episode. The vehicle destroyed was an earlier 633CSi that was purchased from an insurance agency for the princely sum of $1 after someone was found expired in the trunk. Apparently the odor could not be removed and this otherwise expensive vehicle was sacrificed for our viewing pleasure."

it's been forever since i've watched even a minute of "Moonlighting", but it seems to me that by the end of the series, the 1985 635csi was replaced by a deceptively similar (and even less common) e24 L6. if anyone ever gets a chance to do captures from the box set... i predict that the later car is found to be worthy of a different capture/entry.

Episode 4.02, "Come Back Little Shiksa", David takes his frustrations out on Maddie's BMW. They use a BMW 633CSi instead of the regular 635CSi for the destruction scene.

The color of this car was called 'Bronzite Beige Metallic' - I used to have one identical to this and the color information was on a label in the engine compartment. It was a very pretty color - seeing it on film doesn't do it justice. As far as I can tell, at least two 'big bumper' model years were used in this series - initially a 1985 model (first MY in America) as it had a solid air dam and no CHMSL. Later, and this can be seen in episode 4.02 in the street scenes (the dead body 633 was only used inside the parking garage) the slotted air dam and presence of CHMSL suggest a 1987 model was also used.
After that we moved to the 'international bumper' 88' model, documented elsewhere.

Who's going to buy a BMW if it smells like a dead body for $1?

Actually...that dosen't sound like a bad idea! Just replace the interior! And maybe clean the hell out of it before you start driving it.

This should've been a G-body Cutlass Supreme, or even an Omni 024/Horizon TC3. Like hell could Maddie afford a 6-series as a private eye!

Maddie was a top model, who had millions. Her manager/accountant stole almost all of her money. All she was left with was the BMW and the detective agency, which was a tax haven/money pit.
