Who said anything about VAZ only being sold in Russia? This is Bulgaria - which was part of the Eastern bloc:

Just because it's outside of the USSR doesn't mean it wasn't sold as a VAZ.

Looks like Bulgaria got some IZh vehicles. Not many.

These badged "Lada" must be later cars. Early "Ladas" ;) from the 1st half of 70s (all of them) were badged Zhiguli in, im sure, entire COMECON (in earliest years they were also named this way). Such was also the case of the earliest 2103s in Poland (not to mention 2102). 2103 was rebadged to Lada only in the late 1976*, BUT what's important too, they started to name these cars "Lada 1500" in COMECON (minus SU) already a little earlier, what could be confirmed once eg. with scans of Czech sale materials and period Polish articles.
