Austin radiator ornament, appears to be a normal-control 301 of late 1953 - 1957 (a few sources suggest it was made until 1960), badge-engineered Morris LC5. First on the site, it seems. -- Last edit: 2021-03-08 20:44:19 |

True this is an Austin 301. However this is the Austin version of the Morris-Commercial NV heavier therefore than the LC5 30cwt. Identified by the raised rib on the top of the wider front wings. It would have six-stud wheels, double at the rear. Currently I have the NV as being either 2-Ton or 2½-3 Ton from two different sources (early Austin 301 brochure 2½ tons). https://carakoom.ru/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/301_18799-1024x680.jpg -- Last edit: 2021-03-10 11:27:11 |

From the Austin truck codes here http://www.austinmemories.com/styled-73/index.html it appears the '301' with twin rears was 2-tons and was based on the LC5 having the chassis code LC5T for twin rears, introduced November 1956. Edit: Also found the Morris-Commercial 2-ton LC5T, however identifying it compared with the NV 2½-3 ton with the 4-cylinder engine would not be easy. https://www.flickr.com/photos/le_chanoine/47750553292/ -- Last edit: 2021-03-09 16:37:19 |
