Francis, I love you - though you probably don't know why... |

To Bravada ????? ![]() |

Land-Rover is the make... ![]() Range Rover the type. |

And Bravada was fighting so that we list these as just Range Rover, without Land Rover ![]() cf /vehicle.php?id=138172 |

Nope, the marque is Range Rover. It is, and living in denial is not worth it. Francis acted like a natural man here, without any preconceptions - to actual people who are not extensions of American car sales sites' databases, this is a Range Rover, not a "Land Rover Range Rover". |

Please stop restarting that discussion all the time on all the pages, all that has already been said on the link that I posted above ![]() |

We have a precedent though - normal people DO perceive this as a Range Rover, there is no need to artifically add the Land Rover make to it. |
◊ 2007-12-20 00:12 |
Normal people? are you silly or what? |
◊ 2007-12-20 00:14 |
No, there are normal people out there, for whom Range Rovers are Range Rovers, and not "Land Rover Range Rovers" |
◊ 2007-12-20 00:16 |
Might be that you are very clever then, i wonder why dont you create a new site with all your changes, you know, a site for "normal" people... |

So when Ford acquired Land Rover brand in 2000, they were not normal people, since they didn't buy "Range Rover" marque. Following this, Range Rover has been floating for over 7 years, and now that Ford has sold Land Rover, Range Rover's still in a weird freedom, which is confusing because Range Rover has used Ford's technology, and maybe it's me but i haven't read any relationships between Ford and a brand named "Range Rover". Consequently, if Ford has shared parts with other marques of Premier Automotive Group, which were until recently Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Mazda, etc. it'd be very strange that in case Range Rover doesn't belong to Land Rover, then it should have been "adopted" by marques such as one of those mentioned previously. In addition, if PAG included a brand Range Rover which produces a very expensive vehicle, independently from Land Rover, i'm not sure but it'd might have supposed bigger costs, and it may have been sold before Aston Martin after some years. |

why then? ![]() on steering wheel of a Range Rover? |
◊ 2007-12-22 01:40 |
Somehow people still call those "Range Rovers", not "Land Rover Range Rovers"... |
◊ 2007-12-22 01:46 |
Because "Land Rover Range Rover" is too much of a mouthful. |
◊ 2007-12-22 01:47 |
Well, I guess I am not normal then ... and never have been ... ![]() |

People do not mention the full name "Land Rover Range Rover" because it is useless to mention it in spoken language. Like the "Benz" In "Mercedes-Benz" which is barely mentioned in the full name of the car, but it is still there in the name. Same for the Alfa Romeo where they just say "Alfa" + number. wickey >> I already mentioned these Land Rover logos on the other page ![]() -- Last edit: 2007-12-22 02:02:03 |
