O.k., a new possibility for the old discussion "made for" We can add to all cars here in the forum, which had Swedish plates a "Made for Sweden". Especially in the late 60ies and 70ies all cars, which were sold in Sweden, had a plenty of differences, compared with other contries. Just a list of examples: laminated windscreen, headrests, mirror on the right side, heatable back screen, lamp-washer-system (after Summer 1973, also to see at the Granada above), automatic seatbelts on the back seats (after Summer 1974), permanent daylight in combination with the ignition-lock (after late 70ies) |

P.S. But in Sweden the extra turn-signals on the side, they weren't on duty like in Denmark or Norway. |

"Made for" is for really visible difference/details or names. If even without the plate you notice that it is a Swedish version due to lamp-washers or details like that, indeed it should be labeled as "made for S". |

Atom: I have changed the main pic because I thought it was better. Taunus was a little bit too background IMHO. |

What does 'TR' mean? To me it looks like a 'L' version with fog lamps and missing wheeltrim. Seems like it has 'Ghia' instrument fascia. |

Agreed. Special engine for Sweden which had 79 kw (same as german 2.3) instead of the usual 92 kw. Don't know what changes were made, but air cleaner housing looks different, maybe lower compression and different (smaller) carb? |

Between 1976 and until finally joining the EU in 1994 Sweden had special regulations on gas emissions. Amongst other things, engines equipped with EGR. That meant special versions of cars were often made for the Swedish market. I don't know if those were sold in Norway, Denmark and Finland as well, because that must have been enormous money spent in order to sell, at least in some cases, only a handful of cars. It was also an impossibility, as a private person, to import cars made after MY 1975 from other countries unless those cars were converted to CNG gas with a petrol tank covering the whole boot! Also if one made a single car at a shed at home, that car had to be crash tested to that extent it was demolished!! Albeit that changed around 1982. |
