The to/from city sign was a feature of Birmingham Corporation Transport, but didn’t help much on Route 11.

(Brummie boys’ in joke Route 11 was the outer circle.)

All right, Fleetline then. It’s still a CRG6LX though.

351 to 450 KOV, nearly all Metro Cammell, but a few Park Royal bodies as well. BCT bought hundreds, to replace the JOJ and MOF Standards which were outdated and not suitable for omo. They weren’t worn out though, only a million miles each, so plenty of life left in them yet, (apart from the Crossleys).

The girl with the handbag has seen the camera and is wondering if she’s going to hear from Metro Goldwyn Mayer, but she’ll hear from Metro Cammell Weymann if she doesn’t step lively.

Since the family Brum-dwellers were either in Kings Norton, Great Barr or Smethwick, (forbidden territory for BCT, due to the Midland Red), the 8 was a closed book.

I had an absolutely sublime childhood, wonderful parents, we lived in the country close to the West Coast main line, old fashioned grammar school, week away at the seaside, and a week away in the city each year. I couldn’t have ordered it better!

I think it's actually "Wumpty" livery (= WMPTE = West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive) which was a lighter slightly mauve blue than the dark ink blue of BCT. Same organisation after rebranding and new 70s whizzy logo (I think visible on bus side above), expansion, and recolourings.

It is indeed Wumpty, but when these were new they were still BCT, I think. Wumpty was formed 1 Oct 1969, I was working in New Street around that time and recall the horrible stickers used on the old livery. There were many changes, the Red was partly subsumed, as was West Bromwich Corporation with the superbly finished Daimlers, Walsall with its sick making blue, and Wolverhampton with its almost as icky green and yellow.
