Or the 1982+ 1.6 diesel, not a likely choice if a real police vehicle , which I doubt |

This is based on a Swedish artist work. You can see the Swedish hockeystick trim but with POLICE writing and ofc based on a CDN-spec VW. Link to "www.google.com" -- Last edit: 2020-04-10 10:38:29 |

So 1986 by default then? |

1986 would be the facelift model, no ? my choice for 1983 was based on 130rapid's comment here -- Last edit: 2020-04-10 10:23:31 |

Here's some more high-res images (note the missing handle on the sliding door- was that standard on police vans?)![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2020-04-16 03:05:20 |

1986 was a typo, I don't know where that came from. I should have written 1982. 1982 was also the first year these head rests appeared - may be market dependent ![]() Vanagon script at the rear confirmed - 1984+ VW badge to the left, 1984 Vanagon by default |

Firstly, I think rather this is a rental dressed up as a Police car, rather than a real one (see comments above, it doesn't match the car anyway) Then the missing handle may just be related to wear and tear, the car looks pretty beaten up. Was the door even opened in the movie? Entering through the hatch is not an option on these. And I haven't seen electrically operated sliding doors on this generation (except on custom built disabled versions) |
