Obviously modified to carry someone in a wheelchair, but it's very difficult to find any information about such conversions done so long ago. Did Radford or Crayford or someone similar do these?

Not an estate but a Thames 5cwt van [307E] if the bumpers are painted silver, as they look to be.

I wouldn't have thought so; I don't think either coachbuilder did this kind of conversion. My guess is that it was carried out by some specialist firm in New Zealand. Again, one of our Kiwi friends might be able to help :/

The Thames 307E van was based on the 105E Anglia so that's not surprising. ;)

The two vertically hinged rear doors are definitely from the 307E van rather than the Anglia Estate for instance.

Front badge is also Thames

The 'conversion' was quite an easy one to do with a fibre-glass top added to the van. A similar conversion was carried out on the original minivan I think and other vans. Probably more than one UK company did them and the fibre-glass bit could have been shipped to places like Australia and New Zealand or made locally.

I don't think this should get 4 stars. I'm a half hour-45 minutes into the movie and I haven't seen this yet.

Martin Walter did pretty much everything! He crowned the Queen, he made the dinosaurs, built utilies, campers, hearses and whatnot. I'd like to think he also built this one, but can't prove it. So take this as an ID without identification.

Who's driving it?? Orange front indicators on a UK van were Oct 66+ (and therefore 1965+ Ford Anglia Van, not a Thames name), so either NZ used orange indicators much earlier than UK, or carried the Thames name for longer. All-red rear lights with no orange part were presumably an NZ feature??

dsl, the drivers can be seen in the main pic! Members of some English band I don't think anybody's heard of...

^ Half Man Half Biscuit? Crispy Ambulance? Ned's Atomic Dustbin? Carter the Unstoppable Sexmachine? Cheap Mike & the Feedbacks? Lactose Belligerent? (not totally sure about the last two, but the others are genuine).

^ You forgot Rickie Groyne and his Belters. A distant relative of Spencer Davis.
