This is a 1990 Taurus GL. I recorded this episode and it shows the '90 dash and pre-91 valve covers on the engine.

Look at that underside. There is not a single speck of rust on this car! Why couldn't they have destroyed a rust-belt Taurus :(

And I could've used those taillights. I hate the amber turn signals on my '91 SHO.

I believe they chose the Taurus because it represented the average American sedan.

They chose it because the price was right. Plus they're located in California. You think they'd go import a rust-belt car for the purpose of destroying?

People have different tastes in cars.

According to www.bar.ca.gov, the license plate NODOUDT that appears on the show from time to time is from a 1990 Ford Taurus, possibly this one.

(The correctly spelled variant "NODOUBT" has been worn by three different cars since 2001 (a '90 Mitsubishi Eclipse, a '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a '95 Honda Civic))

Sorry I just saw that comment of, "They should've got a Rust Belt Taurus" the cost of going there and transporting it back would cost more than the car itself, and at the end of the day it's still a 1st gen Taurus, aka the car that tell you to report if they're in a School Zone

This was just a plain Jane Taurus, not an SHO. At the time of destruction, this was probably not even 20 years old. If a 2004 Taurus were destroyed, would it bother you?
