mike962 - check the site linked by Jale, plenty of specialist fire-fighting vehicles were imported back then from the other side of iron curtain - nothing strange nor unusual.

Although it is not much related with this vehicle and I do not plan to defend anything from the "left", the facts are that it was "socialist Poland" - economically it was form of socialism. In economic communism you'd be unable to have on your own even old dirty pants.
