It is the 3.5 litre engined P6B version from 1968, known in the beginning as the 'Rover Three Thousand Five'. In 1970 the name was changed to 'Rover 3500'.

Yes, it was marketed as 'Three Thousand Five', but the label on the body was always '3500' throughout the P6B history. So I think we should label this '3500' to be consistent with the others on the database.

WMP 982G was also used in episodes of:
The Protectors /vehicle_39029-Rover-3500-P6B-1968.html
The Persuaders /vehicle.php?id=59299
and in Le Silencieux /vehicle_76767-Rover-3500-P6B-1968.html

We should try to be correct, not consistent, if consistency means keeping errors.

I do not think that mixing numbers and letters is a good idea just to do like the ads of the time of the car (those are just ads...)
They used various writing styles, that sometimes changed without real reason except that the commercial people found that it looked better, but the name is still the same at the end.
Using numbers is not really an "error" for me. Long model names written in letters rather than number are not very easy to handle/read/sort/find etc.
There are various makes for which we used numbers instead of letters. For example the Cadillac series models.
