This generation was not called the 100 in Australia, it was sold as the 5E, and went on sale in 1978. |

What about this then /vehicle_270927-Audi-100-Typ-43-1977.html ? You can clearly read the Audi 100 badge |

Good question. According to Redbook, and Wikipedia, 5E was the named used in Australia. It was probably too expensive to change the 100 badges on the back just for the tiny Australian market. In any case, that other car should be listed as 1978+. |

Or maybe the other one is just an import? I can't find any rear pic of a australian 5E on internet to find out if they changed the badge |

Unlikely to be an import, as parallel importing is illegal here, and the only way to bring a car in is if you owned it while living overseas and brought it with you as a personal import. Very few people do this. Found another 5E print ad here: ![]() ![]() I find it funny that Australia was still using mpg in 1978, yet they were using the metric "kph" (incorrect abbreviation too). Today it's km/h of course, and L/100km. -- Last edit: 2018-01-28 03:01:38 |
