Copy from 1985-89 Isuzu Forward. Shouldn't it be Japan origin? |

Only its cab is an unlicensed copy of the Forward. |

For unlicensed copy, the most common one is Isuzu Elf. |

It is, especially in later years. But even earlier Isuzus have been a target, too. ![]() |

These didn't have to be unlicensed copies. I've impression that in the past they made not so much of plagiarism as one could think (in case of bodies at least). An related example from "Ciężarówki Świata 1997" article - 8 separate Chinese manufacturers had official license on production of the same Isuzu NHR/NKR trucks. These manufacturers also made Isuzu cabs and they sold them to 3rd companies, which made own chassis etc., but didn't make cabs. This way in the same time at least 15 companies in China made vehicles with look of mentioned Isuzu. Was it illegal that manufacturers which had official deal with Isuzu, sold parts to 3rd companies? Not necessary. Depends how the license agreement was constructed (for example once in Poland, not only FSO/FSM, but entire auto-industry could legally use parts made on FIAT license - such was agreement). Thanks to license deals China made many various car components from which "3rd companies" assembled completly new cars with their mongrelish look. IMO it is "mechanism" a little(!) similar to this in Europe, where e.g. some bus manufacturers use lamps from personal cars (to cut costs), but of course in China it happens on uncomparable larger scale. In the past, from the point of view of socialist economy and/or military reasons, it could have sense. -- Last edit: 2017-05-12 17:14:57 |

I only know the cab itself is an Isuzu copy as they say here: http://bbs.360che.com/thread-308079-1-1.html |
