This is Cannons car prior to the Mark III that appears in the series. It´s said to be brand new, and it gets crashed almost immediately ![]() -- Last edit: 2008-08-28 04:22:26 |

It appears that this car has a full-length grille. If this is the case then it's a 1970 model. |

I seem to recall that the Town Car package began in 1972. I going to do some research but does anyone know for sure? |

Here's a mention in the 1973 catalogue...not mentioned in the 71 brochure and still haven't found a 72 pic. http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/main.php?g2_itemId=54169 -- Last edit: 2008-09-08 05:51:56 |

Lincoln did make a 1970 Town Car, very rare. My Grandparents’ owned one and I used to wash and wax this tank weekly. The way you can tell is, believe it or not the 70 Town Car had a passenger outside mirror. The interior door panel’s were the door pulls are would be wood grain and the leather interior would be more a square pattern as apposed the stripe pattern you see in most of these old cars. You would also find that the carpet would be a very thick shag , like what you would have seen in all the 77-79. I own a 70 Continental now , wish it was the Town Car. There were just a little over 10,000 of these cars made. It is the best car I have ever driven, floats and rides like you are on a cloud. Hope this helps. |

The car is without question a 1970 Lincoln Continental Sedan. The 1970 and 1971 grills are similar and where influenced by the Cord. The big differane is that on the 70 the body color grill surround turns out to make a lip over the grill and on the 1971 it does not, Also the 70 has more trim on the headlight doors where the 71 is cleaner, 1970 Lincoln Continental Sedan ![]() 1971 Lincoln Continental Sedan ![]() Also the 1970 had these vents in the rear deck, The only yeat that did. ![]() In 1970 through 1980 Lincoln's had an interior upgrade option for the Continental that was called "The Town Car Interior option" The upgraded the interior was as linc92 tells it. |

I have had my 1970 Lincoln Town Car Sedan since my dad past it onto me after graduating school, my parents had the car since 1970. In 1977 they were planning to trade this car into the dealership for an LTD station wagon, I was only 10 years old at the time, and they new that I always had my heart set on this family car, to my surprise they decided to hold onto the car with the understanding that I complete high school and continue to Collage. To this day I still enjoy taking the car out on my free time, however, I have never spent any time or interest on going to public car shows with my Lincoln, I guess I plan to do this when I retire (God willing) with alot of TLC the body and interior is still in clean showroom condition. The paint color has been hard for me to find compared on other Lincolns, I was told the body color on mine is a dark Ginger color, with a brown top and interior, the body color always looked like a Bronz color to me. |
