1st plane looks kinda like a Curtiss P-36... hard to tell and looks slightly Japanese WWII era, which it could actually be one of the modified AT-6 planes that was converted to play Japanese planes for the movie Tora! Tora! Tora! and later Pearl Harbor. 2nd and 3rd plane looks like a Vaught F-4U Corsair. |

Cross of Iron was filmed in Yugoslavia, so, unless the aircraft shots were done later in the US, it seems unlikely that they'd be ones used in Tora! Tora! Tora! Probably the producers just made do with what they could get locally. |

I thought the plane could be a Soko 522 like in this movie /movie_65938-Kelly-s-Heroes.html ..as this film was set in Yugoslavia too... |
