Story is set in the United States, but the movie was completely shot in Bulgaria. This explains the strange license plates and the high amount of european cars. There are some notably misplaced background cars, that do not deserve their own pages:

A video game sequence is found in the film:

As far as I remember, there was also an Austin Maestro visible at one part in this movie. I can't believe how obvious it was that it was shot outside of the US.

Perhaps it's one of the Bulgarian Maestros.

2,200 Maestros were made in Romania in 1995-1996 by Rodacar, a joint venture between Rover and Daru Group, the BMW distributor in Bulgaria. The venture failed because of competition from the Skoda Felicia, which was slightly cheaper. Skoda had apparently secured a 50 per cent reduction in import duty, while the Bulgarian government failed to honour its promise to reduce duty on Maestro parts for Rodacar. The government also did not fulfil committments to place orders for thousands of Maestros.

That may account for one of the last Maestros I ever saw ... eight years ago, serving as a taxi in Skopje, Macedonia!

Short and dark scene and in the background, but still clearly recognisable as a Maestro.

Two hundred Bulgarian Maestros were exported to Macedonia:
