“There are mobsters in Rhode Island?” A retelling of one of the most surreal true stories ever: FBI bankrolling a movie shoot to catch some criminals! Flawed but entertaining with possibly the most ingenious opening credits ever. A hint of a Ferrari here on the left: A challenge for mike962 (the one between two two guys): Take your pick (as long as it's not the Jeep, Volvo or the convertible next to Volvo since I submitted those): Dark stretched limo: More trucks: I'd love to have this Mack on my desk: Train: A museum piece: -- Last edit: 2023-09-27 20:22:08 (walter) |

"Train" Amtrak 316, an EMD F40PHR originally built in 1979, and ultimately had the distinction of being the last F40 owned by Amtrak when it was retired and then sold to Virginia Railway Express in 2007. Numbered V36, it didn't stay with VRE very long and was sold again in 2014. Last seen in 2022 as LTEX V36, current disposition unknown (possibly scrapped). The cars seem to imply an early 1990's setting, but the overhead Amtrak electrical lines weren't put up until the late 1990's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amtrak%27s_60_Hz_traction_power_system -- Last edit: 2023-09-27 23:56:12 |

^ The movie starts in December 1985, the next caption is "3 months later", and it looks like the rest of the main events unfold over the remainder of 1986 (only the last scene has a caption "two years later"), so that leaves us with a number of anachronisms. |
