Quote

A movie directed by Marcel L'Herbier, a leading figure of the French impressionist cinema. Not really an extraordinary story, but the filming style is amazing with some long scenes which are real odes to movement, to speed and to science, as promoted in the then ending futurism movement.
This movie has been fully restored and has been given a new musical accompaniment in 2015.

Strangely, Einar's race car and Claire's limousine, the 2 main vehicles, have several "stand-ins" for some scenes. The choice of another car for the crash of the Rolland-Pilain is of course completely comprehensible, but using 2 different cars for what is assumed to be the same movement scene (both cars) or having 2 vaguely similar vehicles for static scenes is beyond my comprehension...
