Anyone notice this film is a little similar to Steven Spielberg's 1971 movie, Duel? I have. I found about 15 similarities with Duel.
(WARNING! Spoiler alert.)
1. It's a TV movie.
2. It's set in the desert.
3. We never see the villain's face.
4. He drives an old, dirty vehicle, which becomes the face of evil.
5. The hero and villain never meet.
6. The villain stalks the hero.
7. The villain has murderous intentions.
8. The hero waits at a railroad crossing.
9. Intense car chase through the desert.
10. The villain tries to push the hero to his/her death.
11. The hero experiences car trouble.
12. The hero's car craps out at the worst possible moment, but then starts up just in time.
13. The hero says ''it's all over'' even though the villain is still after him/her.
14. The final showdown takes place near a cliff.
15. And finally, the villainous vehicle, with the driver still inside, rolls off the cliff and plunges towards destruction.

Toute ressemblance avec The Car serait purement fortuite ;)

Sorry, but I don't understand much French.

Storywise, this movie is similar to Duel. However, the back of this movie's videotape box says ''in the tradition of Christine and Duel.'' But I only found two similarties with Christine.
1. The villain drives - and pretty much is - a Chrysler vehicle.
2. The vehicle has tinted windows.

Anyone else notice in the opening scene the Charger does not have a sunroof but later in the movie it does?

According to the goof page on IMDb, the Charger does switch between a 1971-74 model.
