The New York street is on the Nu Boyana (Nu Image) studio backlot:
http://nuboyana.com/facilities/new-york-streets/

I found a review saying the scene was "filmed on some Bulgarian street". I suppose the reviewer knew that it wasn't really New York but didn't realise that it looks much more like New York than any real Sofia location would.

It seems that that they added it later by CGI
DynaMike wrote Looks like it's got a Fake Identity...

Gag Halfrunt wrote Looks like a computer graphic model.

929V6 wrote It looks like a strange mix of an AMC Rebel and an Opel Admiral, converted to a...convertible.

valiant1962 wrote Looks to have some Dodge Barreiros thrown in as well

ingo wrote Definetely not an Admiral Coupé - it never had existed. There was only a Diplomat Coupé, only 347 made by Karmann. Just one we have here:
/vehicle_218619-Opel-Diplomat-Coupe-1965.html
It doesn't look like one

kegare wrote Interesting car, the front looks European, the body looks American.

talfarlow wrote It looks like an argentinian Barreiros Dodge GTX with modified front bumper http://grandesdodge.iespana.es/images/articulo370007.jpg . The squared face vaguely reminds me of some European Ford from the '80s (Taunus? Granada? ...).

kegare wrote That is a good match.
But what is it doing in Bulgaria?

Gag Halfrunt wrote As I said, it looks to me like a computer graphic model.

talfarlow wrote
Is it actually Bulgaria? It seems the Mercedes number plate looks like Spanish in their previous syntax (A-NNNN-AA), even the building seems what they call "Regimen Style" (architecture from pre-democratic period).
As I said, it looks to me like a computer graphic model.
...And I've already read it, but I can't see the point of inserting such a trick in that scene.

chris40 wrote @talfarlow: the plate on the Mercedes is almost certainly Bulgarian, as fairly recent (1992-9) BG plates use the same scheme as the old Spanish one; see http://www.worldlicenseplates.com/ . Like most (if not all) countries whose language uses the Cyrillic alphabet, Bulgaria only uses characters resembling Latin ones on its plates.

talfarlow wrote @chris40: Thanks for the info

@Gag Halfrunt: I've just watched the complete movie scene and yes, both the car and its shadow on the ground look odd: the car somehow opaque and undefined, the shadow bigger and darker than any other object's, so I agree with you, it's not real (so I won't suggest the Opel Diplomat V8...)

AMC man wrote Kegare said that the front looks European and the body looks American well that is exactly what the Dodge GTX looked like. So I have gathered up some possibilities we have the Dodge GTX http://images03.olx.com.ar/ui/1/41/46/4353546_19.jpg the Opel Diplomat as suggested above http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2419/2180580266_8a95013f63.jpg the Ford Taunus 20M http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/66/Ford_Taunus_20M_Lahti2.JPG the Chrysler Valiant Charger http://www.aussiecoupes.com/images/71rtchargerrt_10.jpg or some USA car of the early 1970s with a homemade front end. Make your own choice.

ingo wrote the Opel Diplomat as suggested above
Definetely not. Despite the fact, that the shape is slightly similar, it's more than unlikely, that a rarity like this -only 347 were handmade by Karmann- appears as a -mattblack painted!!- background car in a movie filmed in Bulgaria.

ingo wrote the Ford Taunus 20M
No. nothing fits. Neither shape, size or style.

ingo wrote we have the Dodge GTX
Unlikely, too. A car, which was never officially sold in Europe (the handful GTX' existing here, are all private imports) as a background car?

AMC man wrote Do you agree on the Dodge GTX and the Chrysler Valiant Charger?

ingo wrote
No. What Gag Halfrunt has said, is most probable:
Looks like a computer graphic model.

ingo wrote the Chrysler Valiant Charger
As unlikely as the Diplomat Coupé - Aussie made cars are nearly not existing in Europe at all.

So in the end, nothing is close enough to list it as a precise model...
