It has its moments. But this isn't one of them - shite weather, sterile ground. But as consolation fantastic freshly landed fish'n'chips, even though I'm only a couple of miles from Dounreay nuclear reactor (anyone for fission chips??). Haven't started glowing yet, but it's only a matter of time ... 2023-07-03 23:31
I shall do my best to honour the task bestowed upon me. However I'm at the top of the Scottish mainland monitoring a windfarm build and staying in a hotel with wi-fi which only works when it feels like it. So progress may be not be rapid ... 2023-07-03 23:14

Interesting brake lights at top of tailgate?? 2023-07-02 03:48
Agree 96+ for CHMSL and smoked light lenses. Badge on right looks like a word, suggesting Sterling as the only possibility - all lesser models got generic 800 badge without trim letters. 2023-07-02 03:44

I can take this on if no-one else to claim it. Would make it my next project, but can't do much for a few days so happy if anyone else wants to leap in and take it. If so, please make yourself known. 2023-07-01 16:13
How long did they make 2-door versions for?? Was there an early 2-door GXL?? 2023-07-01 16:01
I think it's been mildly Stroseked, which happened to some HK 928s, but not one of the wilder ones - still has factory wheels from 1988 S4 Clubsport or 1989+ GT - so Version I best fit, although not all the tweaks are present. 2023-07-01 15:56
Yes - the probable S bonnet badge above the wing badge is a big hint for a 90s Cooper S with one of the John Cooper upgrades, plus the 4 spotlights. But not sure which one - doesn't look like tints, so early 90s looks safer, which was Oct 91 Mini Cooper Si as a performance pack option. More editions appeared 94-96 and then 99-2000; if it has wide Sportspack arches and big wheels it's 96+, but these later ones usually had tints. So I'll stick with earliest possibility. 2023-07-01 14:11
Nothing listed for Subaru (as Fuji Heavy Industries) in Israel in World Cars 1972 (no overseas sites at all) and 1975 & 1978 (both say only one overseas site - Portugal - but no clue what was made).

These World Cars lists are not bullet-proof but mostly solid; a made-for tag would be useful in case new info is found, so updates can be made.

1978+ bumpers?? 2023-07-01 12:37
I've found the track - it's Goodwood (<= pic from 1957 Glover Trophy). But the Goodwood events in wiki's list of Type 15 appearances don't match the various racing nos - unless it's the 1953 Glover Trophy where they don't have an entry list, but that may be a dead end as well.

This online pic of BRM #5 is described as 1953 Glover trophy

... but isn't. However if the #9 Maserati behind is the same #9 seen behind #5 above, it's the same Goodwood event. My brain hurts now.

Oh bullocks. NOI 6709/8709 was Belfast, Dec 76 to July 77, so a plain GTL manual (arrived UK April 76) with grey plastic bits instead of black. 2023-06-30 23:26
Probably BXI 6556, Belfast, Oct 82 to April 83; first 83# was 3409. 2023-06-30 23:19
Glass's says this series introduced UK March 79 as 1400 GLX 3 door, 5 door added June 79; 1200 added March 81 as GL and then EL. 1200 never available as 5 door. Jan 83 - both versions renamed Mirage (1250/1400 as appropriate). This is 3 door, and with reflector/fog inset in bumper - compare 1980 1400 - I'll take a punt for 83+ Mirage. 2023-06-30 23:08
WOI 6243 was Belfast, very late 1980 - series was June 80 to Feb 81 with 1st 81 # being 6850. So much newer than the vehicle for whatever reason. 2023-06-30 22:57
TGW 235M was Central London, Aug 73, black Austin 2520cc diesel, ✗ Untaxed Tax due: 1 November 1984. So now we know where defunct London taxis go to die. 2023-06-30 22:50
If MOI 2882, = Belfast, May-Dec 76. 2023-06-30 22:40
EOI 9582 was Belfast, April-Dec 72. Probably 850 - small hubcaps, plain window rubber. 2023-06-30 21:32
^ That looks a useful site :king: 2023-06-30 21:27
Hotspur. HB listed as Army "A Vehs 1980/81". 2023-06-30 21:09
Colt Mirage?? 2023-06-30 21:07
I think black bumpers/trim was GTL Automatic only, which was a Sept 79 intro in UK. 2023-06-30 21:05
Marina Mk2, probably Super for side strip. 2023-06-30 21:01
DIW 3323 = Coleraine, Dec 79. Details match 79 Popular. 2023-06-30 21:00
CA ambulance, probably Mk3. Can't get a 60s plate combo from F/P + D/O + I to fit. 2023-06-30 20:50
Was blue grille badge 5E?? Nice alloys and lots of headrests suggests a good trim level. 2023-06-30 20:39
DIW 8509 = early 81 Coleraine. Looks mid-spec, probably HLE. 2023-06-30 20:37
I'd guess it is powered - otherwise you don't need the steering wheel, seat (which looks like a double) and other controls. No idea if electric or engined, but there's 2 of them in the wider shot. JBT seem to make similar electric things today (from here) but no doubt lots more possibilities. 2023-06-30 20:07
Early bumper, looks like designer plate but not readable. First 164s in UK Jan 69, Oct 69 fogs fitted in UK instead of horn grilles. Might have Oct 71+ recessed door handles. 2023-06-30 17:47
The only solid claim I've seen for Israel Ford builds is Escort from 1968 to about 1981 (Mk1-3) - nothing for Cortinas (or Transits, which seem to have been popular there). I guess the link was always with Ford UK rather than Germany - one unusual consequence was LHD Cortina Mk5s for Israel which I don't think happened anywhere else from European Mk4/5 production (even though these may well have been rebadged TC2/3s from Genk rather than Dagenham builds) apart from Portugal which assembled both Mk4/5. Some bits of Europe got LHD Mk3s, but I don't think there were many places or high numbers.

(cheap Altaya partwork from a few years ago)

Also noted that captured Mk3 has no grille badge so poverty base spec - no luxuries for the Israeli police!
2023-06-30 14:32
Hadn't realised there was a small light longnose phase! 2023-06-30 14:17
Mk3 Sept 71+, so probably Austin although Morris is possible; there were no Mk3 Morris saloons in UK because the Marina had arrived, but the Traveller continued on its lonesome for a few months until April 72 (UK) and April 73 (some export markets) to fill gap before Marina Estate arrived. Austin ended June 74. 2023-06-30 11:58
Probably GXL. 2023-06-30 03:46
Israel used Cortinas as police cars until Mk5. 2023-06-30 03:45
Main is early XL, thumb 74+ and possibly another XL. 2023-06-30 03:42
Could be a 69-70 H plate, but looks LHD so maybe not its original date although I think it's a longnose. 2023-06-30 03:39
2 Mini Mk3s, both likely 1000 for chrome trim. And another further back. M plate on right = 73-74. 2nd thumb is another Mk3. 2023-06-30 03:35
Mk2, looks bulky below bumper so likely 3500. 2023-06-30 03:30
Commer camper. 2023-06-30 03:23
CYM 895H = SE London, Feb-March 70. 2023-06-30 03:21
Vertical grille trim = Super Deluxe. 2023-06-30 03:19
