G-MANN ![]() | No chrome around the rear light, and I'd say that's the rectangular "Jaguar" badge on the left of the numberplate, not the Daimler badge, also it looks like it's got another rectangular badge on the other side of the plate, so can't be a Daimler with that. Also doesn't have the full chrome trim around the windows (looks like the black trim), so not even a Sovereign. -- Last edit: 2011-08-28 16:57:51 |

cko ![]() | Ive seen a few Mercedes from the 80s that were in much better condition than most 90s cars rustwise.Cars last longer now due to the heavy use of plastic, but salt gets stuck in any little nook and cranny it can find and the car will still rust.It seems the hood (or "bonnet" to our European audiences) is often the most rust-prone piece on a car now.I think the absolute worst in the 70s were Datsuns and Hondas.The ONLY Datsuns left in Michigan are z-cars and many didn't originate here.In the 80s it was Honda and Toyota.Even Toyota has gotten better but Honda still had rust problems into the mid-90s.The 80's Chevy Cavaliers/Pontiac Sunbirds were pretty bad in the 80s too. |

ingo ![]() | Over here the times heavily rusted cars are gone since the late 70ies. It became better since then, but terrifying often some companies and some specific models do have problems - even well-named brands like Mercedes and Volkswagen. Strangely in the 90ies they had some bad aberrations. Opel was worse, imported brands, expecially Italian, even more. My 1999 300.000 km-Omega got more and more rust pimples all around (not really visible here, but existing http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/833/img0444ory.jpg/ ), even on the middle of the doors, but I never took care about it and the car never had a garage. As mentioned here, I was really bewildered: /vehicle.php?id=419966 This I haven't excepted. |

dudley ![]() | My 1986 Escort had hand-sized holes in the wings by 1990. Fords had really bad rust protection until around 1988-89. |

cko ![]() | Come here to Michigan. 5 year old cars have rust.We are one of the top salt-using states and you CANNOT find anything more than 5 years old that doesnt have at least a little bit of rust.Hondas are real bad.A common trait of accords in our state is massive rust under the fuel filler door/gas cap and bumpers falling off due to rust underneath.Civics are getting a little better but those used to have problems staying intact too.Toyotas arent much better.My brother and I use to call the older Corollas "Toyota corrosions" due to excessive rust.There are no 80s Celicas left at all.American cars arent much better.the only cars here you rarely see with BAD rust (meaning they still have some) are Mercedes and BMW.There are also a decent supply of old Cadillacs that are very clean but I think they used better metal and rust protection, and a lot of old people bought them and put very few miles on them. -- Last edit: 2011-08-25 16:04:57 |

cl82 ![]() | I think it has a Lada-badge indeed. | 2011-08-25 14:53 | ||
Sandie ![]() | It looks a bit like a Lada badge on the grill to me. Also, as this is a comedy series a Lada is far more likely due to the car's comical reputation. |
