rtsbusman1997 ![]() | The thing is, if the DVLA found the info under "Dodge-Renault" and not Renault, it would have been in early 1987 before the name change, making this a 1987 Dodge-Renault (the date of manufacture is right there, mate.) | 2015-02-23 20:11

Sandie ![]() | IMO it should be Origin Germany - Made in and Made for GB and that goes for every Vauxhsll since the Chevette (and even that one is a bit dubious) for just that reason. Whilst there was some styling revisions between Vauxhall and Opel versions even the guy who Vauxhall paid to 'design' their grill onto their cars wasn't British. -- Last edit: 2012-03-07 02:16:38 |

Weasel1984 ![]() | Do anyone have better pic of this very left round badge at the B11 Sunny grill? It was to meet on some models (mostly 1985 it seems). I would like to know when and what did it mean. It remids the Nissan logo used later on all their cars, but: a) not all 1985/1986 B11 had it b) what for two Nissan badges at one grill? ![]() Edit: Ok it was written Nissan at this round badge, stil strange, that not all cars have it... -- Last edit: 2012-03-07 20:21:26 |

Skid ![]() | Apparently, yes. It's amazing how many vehicles in the UK have only 10 or 12 examples. By contrast, Haggerty collector car insurance (which insures any car over 25 years old) only lists six or seven models of which they have fewer than 10 insured in the U.S., such as the Dodge St. Regis, the Oldsmobile Starfire (H-body), and the Plymouth Cricket. This is only the number of vehicles that carry collector car insurance...many cars of that age still carry standard car insurance. Plus, given the low rate of scrappage in the U.S. in general, there are probably plenty more sitting in yards and garages. As for U.K. scrappage and low survival rates, I would assume that the strictness of the MOT ("You have a little rust right there! Fail!") combined with the extremely high cost of auto insurance is the culprit. |

leoz ![]() | Late reply, I know, but... I recall seeing "older" vehicles on the road back in the '90's when I was a lil' kid. In my town (I'm from "up north") not many people could afford newer cars back in the early-mid nineties (many lost their jobs due to the mines and mills closing down, for example). I recall seeing several early-mid '70's cars such as old Ford Cortinas and the odd Granada, old Mini Clubmans, the occasional Marina, Allegro, Maxi, Chevette, Fiesta MK1's, old Rovers etc as well as a lot of early '80's cars such as the usual Escort MK3's, Cavalier's, Astra Mk1's, Metro's, Reliant Robins and so on. Back then it was more common to see old rotting cars in gardens (not so much now, much cleaner up here today), sometimes you'd see '60's cars such as Morris Minors and Hillmans even older than this one back then. My folks had "older" cars then, too. These days though even some '90's cars are becoming "rare", or are even considered to be "collector's items". ![]() |

dsl ![]() | Alloys, boot spoiler, front spoiler with fogs, lower side strip, but no headlight wash/wipe. Assuming no accessories, earliest 635 CSi Oct 78 - April 80 would match. | 2012-01-27 00:59
leoz ![]() | Three cool cars, pity they were destroyed, but I was kinda glad as they belonged to that "mean, self-important rich guy" character. If I'd refer to my cars as "my children", I mean - if I loved them that much then I'd actually drive them. If someone "loves" their cars that much then why do they bother hiring a chauffeur? Just to show off, really. Anyway, great episode and great series! ![]() |
