No, these were built in Australia; GMH Holden's long-defunct Acacia Ridge plant in Queensland and included quite a high degree of local content.

I have a Japanese-built Gemini (actually a US-market Opel by Isuzu) and despite a near-identical bodyshell, there are marked differences in the radiator, engine ancillaries, rear axle, rear brakes, gauges and trim. Springs and shocks were also locally sourced and differently rated to the JDM items. Five years too late, but whatever!

Unlikely to be an import, as parallel importing is illegal here, and the only way to bring a car in is if you owned it while living overseas and brought it with you as a personal import. Very few people do this.

Found another 5E print ad here:

I find it funny that Australia was still using mpg in 1978, yet they were using the metric "kph" (incorrect abbreviation too). Today it's km/h of course, and L/100km.

Good question. According to Redbook, and Wikipedia, 5E was the named used in Australia. It was probably too expensive to change the 100 badges on the back just for the tiny Australian market. In any case, that other car should be listed as 1978+.

Gag Halfrunt UKThey were converted to left hand drive for the film.
Quote For a lot of movies made out here the cars are converted to look like left hand drives. A company I worked for sold 4 F100's to the company that made the first Punisher movie with Dolph Lundgren in 1988. They converted them to left hand drive by welding a post to the floor with a bicycle chain across to the right hand side so they could be steered from the left. It looked authentic for filming outside the cars.... They used Australian Valiants for Police cars.

profaen AUThe bike in the PUNISHER was based on a 1974 Shovelhead Harley Davidson.
Two identical bikes were built for the film by NATLI motorcycles in Kingswood, Sydney. No longer in business. Paul and Manuel also seviced the bikes during the film and provided 2 custom chev powered Jaguar cars as well. They did a great job.
S&S carb, 2" belt drive primary drive, Triple disc brakes, raked, stretched and lowered. At the end of the movie, the Stunt Coordinator bought one and I bought the other one. I rode it for 8 years then sold it. Not sure what happened to the other bike, but I think it was wrecked.

carmaker1 ENThis isn't a 1980 model, as they don't exist stateside. The W116 450SEL 6.9 was sold as a 1980 model and was replaced with the 1981 W126. The 1980 model was only for non-U.S. markets, and 380SEL limousines were unlikely made compared to 500SEL and 560SEL limos. The U.S. 500SEL wasn't available until 1983 or early 1984 and this wouldn't even be one of them as it's a facelift model. This a 1986-1988 560SEL limousine. Please change it.

Vanishing Point AUFrom late 1967 the Phoenix was assembled in Melbourne, not Adelaide, despite what it says on the plate! mprmn340 AUThere was no 1972 model. The 1971 model was the last one, but were assembled in Adelaide from knock-down crates, imported from Canada, until about mid 1972 (month unknown). There were 400 saloons with the 318 v8 and 400 hardtops with the 383. These were truly lovely cars but, sadly, many have been given terrible 'street rod' paint jobs, lowered, now have huge mags...etc. They look awful. bellett64 AUThis is a 1975-76 Holden TX Gemini sedan. Appears to have the early "Holden-Isuzu" script across the back as the "Holden Gemini" script of the mid 1975 cars was a more obvious shape than what can be seen here.

It's parked on the wrong side of the road! Being an Aussie-built (Acacia Ridge plant, Queensland) and sold car, it is RHD, while the movie was made in Australia, it was set in a non-descript American city, hence why it may be parked on the wrong side.
