stevil101 ![]() | Since the picture is not in very good quality, I can't tell if it has a full plastic bumper or not. Because if it does, it might possibly be either a 1988, or a brand new 1989 model. You know what bugs me? The plastic bumper can still be found in a 1987 commercial and brochure, but apparently not on Google Search (show only after 1988+ model). So I can't tell if the plastic bumper was actually optional for 1987 model years, or if that was just an early advertisement for the brand new 1988 model year. | 2018-02-03 19:39

stevil101 ![]() | No, it was also on the regular Caravan too. But I can't tell if this one in particular is a Grand Caravan or not, especially from this angle. -- Last edit: 2017-12-11 23:52:13 |

eLMeR ![]() | Let's say it's just a (strong) side effect of new year's eve ![]() As a reminder, S-Series is here for the 1979-89 S-Series truck chassis on which this bus is based. IH buses were called 'Something'-Series Schoolmaster, their model code being based the contemporary truck chassis: ![]() (1952 L-Series Schoolmaster // 1957 A-Series Schoolmaster // 1962 Loadstar Schoolmaster) Even the "non-conventional" bus chassis used the Shoolmaster name: ![]() (1966? International FC-Series Schoolmaster) It has to be confirmed, but it appears that the truck line name disappeared from the bus model name sometime during the 1960s, leaving just Schoolmaster as name. Which would mean that the S-Series in the identification of this bus is in fact irrelevant: ![]() (196? IH Schoolmaster: just a model number, no Loadstar with it. See also the cover of the 1979 Schoolmaster brochure in my previous comment) So once again, please search a bit before asserting such "truths". Don't be surprised, otherwise, if I don't trust your "identifications" ![]() |

supcoach ![]() | @Elmer - FYI, the S in S-Series stands for Schoolmaster, so in effect you are being redundant as you are calling it a Schoolmaster Series Schoolmaster | 2017-01-04 13:33
eLMeR ![]() | As usual, not just S-Series, but S-Series Schoolmaster:![]() (1979 Schoolmaster brochure cover) A view of the grille could help to tell a 1979-86 International Harvester model from a 1987-89 (Navistar) International one. |

eLMeR ![]() | Or LNT-Series, if with a tandem rear axle. With a 1988+ front face, here. Already explained here: as long as they are Diesel models, they have air cleaners... ![]() |

eLMeR ![]() | Or LNT-Series, if with a tandem rear axle... Here with the 1970-84 front face. | 2016-12-18 06:50
eLMeR ![]() | ![]() (0:31:03 // 0:31:14) It belongs to the 1961-69 heavy-duty F-/T-Series line (with T for tandem versions), which was slightly different from the main F-Series line. The hood side badge in the second picture makes it a 1963-68 model, and the script in front of this badge indicates a Super Duty model, i.e. a gasoline powered F-850, F-950 or F-1000. An F-1100 is also possible, depending on the model year (until 1965). -- Last edit: 2016-12-18 06:53:16 |
