johnfromstaffs ![]() | Unfortunately, slow claps in U.K. means something completely different. Applause may be required. |

dsl ![]() | McDade of Uddingston Treka-bodied Mercedes-Benz Vario CN61DFY. So made in Yorkshire. | 2022-03-01 19:57
dsl ![]() | Have gone for the C4, S1 rear lights. I think "Radicale" alloys so VTR, no roof spoiler so not VTS. | 2022-03-01 18:33
dsl ![]() | May well be the confirmed Sitcar Beluga (as someone has entered) - it seems to match and both appearances have these red seats. However am not merging them as the two appearances have separate roles at different points (locations and scenes during the journey) within the film, with some discrepancies of small detail - eg the route notice in the windscreen for the other sighting is not present here. | 2022-03-01 16:07
dsl ![]() | Actually they don't, but have an even more devilish technique of digitally recolouring one bus to create apparently different examples, as kudos identified here, so in reality only one of the two Dennis Tridents and one of the 3 Optare Solos is authentic. They've done it very cleverly, so it would not be spotted by the film viewer. |

dsl ![]() | It's the green/grey SN51AYK digitally recoloured as suggested by kudos here. Everything apart from colour matches exactly, including the rear route number stuck halfway between 1_A and 1_B in 5th thumb, and my guess at the plate here could work for SN51AYK. | 2022-03-01 15:51
dsl ![]() | Very likely the green/yellow one YJ65ERO digitally recoloured as discussed here. | 2022-03-01 15:44
dsl ![]() | I'm now convinced by the digital re-colouring theory - it explains the recurring plates and the clincher was comparing the rear photos of the grey/green Dennis double-decker (main) versus the grey/blue (5th thumb) - everything apart from colour matches exactly, including the route number stuck halfway between 1_A and 1_B. So this blue Optare is reworked from the genuine green/yellow YJ65ERO, and the green/green may be as well. The explanation is probably claims seen online that the production budget was very limited, and with filming probably constrained by Covid restrictions, they had to resort to technical smoke and mirrors to camouflage the gaps. But they've done it very well - looking again at the clips, it's impossible to tell, as the light and shadow effects are thoroughly convincing, even when looking for witchcraft clues. As each appearance has a separate role during the film with its sequence of different journeys and the viewer would see each appearance as a distinct and self-contained sighting in its own right, I'm not merging the pages. |

kudos ![]() | I know nothing about that sort of thing, though it’s the only explanation I can think of. | 2022-02-28 01:23
kudos ![]() | Alexander RV bodywork, not RL. The interior shots are of a Stagecoach - or ex-Stagecoach - Alexander ALX400-bodied Dennis Trident II. |
2022-02-28 01:16 | ||
dsl ![]() | Makes sense, as there's a couple of separate clips of Tom and wife up by the castle ruin. |
2022-02-28 01:11 | ||
dsl ![]() | If either bus is a digital re-colour, they've done it very well - the sequences look perfectly normal with natural-looking shadow and lighting. | 2022-02-28 01:09
kudos ![]() | Yes, it’s another ex-Dublin Bus, Alexander RV-bodied Volvo Olympian. | 2022-02-28 01:03

kudos ![]() | It’ll be a Stagecoach Western bus. | 2022-02-28 00:54
kudos ![]() | Could it possibly be the same bus digitally coloured blue? If so, I suspect the same thing was done to the grey and green double-decker to create the grey and blue one. | 2022-02-28 00:51

dsl ![]() | This one's messy. The 2 We've identified this vehicle using the details you provided VOLVO UNKNOWN 1999 Registration number: V851 MYS Body type: D/D Bus/Coach Colour: Red Date of first registration: December 2012 "McDade's have a few ex Dublin Bus deckers for school and contract work. V851 MYS is a Volvo Olympian/Alexander R type new to Dublin Bus in September 1999 as 99D592 (RV592)" from here and was a Belfast build, now converted to single door. So the one on right is probably also one of McDade's and maybe from same batch?? |

dsl ![]() | If plate is YJ65ERG, it's a fake and also appears on the green/yellow similar. |

dsl ![]() | I think thumbs 2 and 3 might be the A83 "Rest and Be Thankful" in Argyll, with the bus on the lower old military road and the modern road above. My dad did a lot of development work on Imp prototypes zipping up and down the pass. Spent ages trying to match the plate but failed. However it could be something like YJ65ERG - if it is, it's a fake and also appears on the blue similar. |

Jnglmpera ![]() | Set-up reminds me of the "can we get to [Point of Interest] just by local bus" shows on TV Tokyo and its numerous rip-offs for me, though those ones are much less sentimental, and are actually shot on-location even during COVID state of emergencies: Link to "ja.wikipedia.org" -- Last edit: 2022-02-27 02:57:13 |
