richard davies ![]() | There was an overlap of Transits, as some late Mk2s were registered on a D plate, often fleet purchases like minibuses that took time to be delivered. | 2022-01-02 23:21
richard davies ![]() | Chelmsford registration, so probably from the Ford press fleet. I wonder if it was a Mk3 fitted with Mk4 panels & other trim. Ford did this with some of the Capris in The Professionals, turning late Mk2s to Mk3s. |

richard davies ![]() | Dundee has been used for Moscow in one BBC drama. Likewise Glasgow stood in for Brno in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Thailand has been used for Vietnam a few times. |

Sandie ![]() | Looks like the later, ribbed side. See comment here: /vehicle.php?id=870707 It seems the front bumper without overriders, as here, came in at the same point. And anyway, this movie is from 1987 when I doubt the Royal Mail would be using a truck that's more than 10yrs old. -- Last edit: 2016-10-17 19:10:02 |

G-MANN ![]() | Presumably they did it to try and sell them at a higher markup price. They cost £1000 more than a normal 1.3 litre Metro (bear in mind these are mid-1980s prices) -- Last edit: 2013-07-03 18:24:33 |

supercinco ![]() | How common were these cars in the UK ? In Spain there were quite a lot, though they almost disappeared completely during the 90's. Nowadays it's happening with BX's and even Xantias mkI | 2013-04-06 12:39
rjluna2 ![]() | It is a hatchback model. | 2013-03-31 00:27

astrueblue ![]() | This is actually a 1980 model. I can tell because the grille has narrow openings, the 81-85 models had a wider eggcrate grille. -- Last edit: 2012-07-10 01:00:33 |

G-MANN ![]() | That scene was actually filmed in England, notice the roadsign here: /vehicle_29478-Chevrolet-Camaro-1975.html (in the upper left part of the image) All the details of the two cars do seem to match (except the plate which would have been changed) -- Last edit: 2011-10-08 14:04:09 |

Sandie ![]() | 1 - How can we be sure they are the same car? We can't even be certain that both scenes were filmed in the same country. Anyway, I dare say that more than one Chevy Wagon like this would have lived in the UK at this time. 2 - AFAIK the Caprice was not officially retailled in the UK (unlike other European states) so it would be aftermarket modification. I think this has been discussed before and we decided not to describe the cars as made for in that case. |

rtsbusman1997 ![]() | This is the same car as this one: /vehicle_22917-Chevrolet-Caprice-Classic-1980.html . So this one should be marked Made For EU. -- Last edit: 2011-10-08 03:43:42 |

cl82 ![]() | This is something that always fascinated me: The fact that even the BL-cars with the most horrible built-quality were available with precious wooden trim and leather interior. | 2011-04-15 09:24
Sandie ![]() | My uncle had a Metro Vanden Plas in purple (or as he put it blue). This was the one that had real walnut trim on the fascia in particular around the glovebox and also the fancy cloth. Luxury. BL style. At the time I thought it was naff. Now I think it is potentially a real classic |

ddgonzal ![]() | I think you are right, it is a 1979-1982 Datsun Sunny B310 (VB310 van, rather than the WB310 slopeback wagon) Red car looks more like a 280ZX than a 280Z. |
