Lateef ![]() | The T12 was introduced in Norway in Feb 86. Some markets may have gotten them even earlier at end of 1985, even, but I cannot find a definite date. European Bluebirds do not have year for 10th digit, but serial numbers as Japanese market cars do. In Feb/March 86, the serial already ran up in the neighborhood of 100,000. As such these cars should not be regarded as next year's model. For US-market Stanzas it's indeed different, as these have year identifiers in 10th digit as you say. Here's two sample VINs for comparison: 1986 Bluebird: JN100HT12U0100420 1987 Stanza: JN1HT23S8HT001882 |

dhill_cb7 ![]() | According to Nissan gurus and the forums all T12s are understood as 1987s even if introduced in Spring of 1986. I did pretty extensive research before updating the database. I’m not arguining introduction date. Our market, where MYs are used in the 10th digit, had them just as early but still listed as 1987s. | 2023-04-06 14:02 | ||
Lateef ![]() | The hatchback was available earlier than 1987, there are examples registered as early as March 1986. I don't know why dhill decided to relist all T12s as 1987 when 1986 was the first year for them. I'm reverting them now though, unless there's evidence that they're specifically 1987s. |

JCB ![]() | I wonder if this is one of the Triumph T160 'Cardinal' ex Police models that were reimported. It does not match the Saudi ones exactly but has right bars and colour an enormous rack and strangely white indicators. http://www.triplesonline.com/bikes/cardinal/ -- Last edit: 2023-01-09 06:09:26 |

Sunbar ![]() | There was no money at the time for a back-up Daimler if this Independant newspaper comment is true... "It's certainly a world away from the shabby heap that made its debut in the first Morse episode in 1987. Registered 248 RPA in Surrey in 1960, the Jaguar 2.4-litre Mk2 had been purchased from a scrapyard by the props team working on the Central TV series. Apparently, the car had to be pushed into place in several scenes because it was a non-runner, and up-close it was a pretty ropey specimen, despite the buffed-up paintwork. Jaguar connoisseurs winced every time they saw the tacky vinyl roof-covering glued on by one of its four previous owners. The producers did get it running eventually, but only the minimum was spent on the car - just enough to make it look convincing for the hours of footage shot of the Jag rolling through the streets of Oxford and local country backwaters, where Morse did much of his laid-back sleuthing." dsl ![]() | 248 RPA was a Surrey plate, issued June-Oct 60, so correct date range for a 1960 Jag 2.4 as claimed. It is chassis 102827DN with all details apparently correct. The Daimler 2½ Litre V8 was launched in Oct 62, so doesn't appear to fit any of the established data for 248 RPA. However it's possible they needed more than one car for filming, so might have dressed up a Daimler as second back-up car, which could explain the other suggestions. Seems a bit pointless to have disguised a Daimler as the first car - much simpler to have just let Morse be a Daimler driver?? |

sixtiesswing ![]() | Actually EDWARD Turner for BSA. Should this car not be listed as a Daimler V8 as this is the same information that I have read regarding this car's true history. Jaguar didn't offer a vinyl roof on the Mark II. |

sixtiesswing ![]() | Excellent observations! It's always interesting that the stereotypical pastel pink associated with this car wasn't offered! Cadillac might have had outrageous styling that year, but there really was some restrained taste behind the madness.....the color palette was actually more sophisticated than these repaints suggest. |

sixtiesswing ![]() | Agreed. This is the only application I have ever seen of a vinyl roof fitted to a Mark II, and it detracts from the purity of the lines. I wonder if the factory even fitted any as such, even to the Daimler V8 model this started life as. |
