night cub wrote From the factory, no. Newports maybe, but I doubt New Yorkers from new. However, I'm sure some were made into taxis as used cars, especially in smaller towns and cities or cities that didn't regulate cab models (I'm thinking Washington DC which had an anything goes spirit back in the day, there were lots of oddball cabs found there)

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it! I'm the same guy, I just forgot my password. lol :)

Agreed. Also trunk lock moved. Earlier models have it on the trunk lid.

A '75 to '78.
Why? The bumper run strip is black plastic, in '74 it was stainless.

Sadly, it zipped past us in the opposing lane so I was unable to take a picture. :(

Yoda wrote This should've been a G-body Cutlass Supreme, or even an Omni 024/Horizon TC3. Like hell could Maddie afford a 6-series as a private eye!

Maddie was a top model, who had millions. Her manager/accountant stole almost all of her money. All she was left with was the BMW and the detective agency, which was a tax haven/money pit.

Who's going to buy a BMW if it smells like a dead body for $1?

Actually...that dosen't sound like a bad idea! Just replace the interior! And maybe clean the hell out of it before you start driving it.

Julian USThe color of this car was called 'Bronzite Beige Metallic' - I used to have one identical to this and the color information was on a label in the engine compartment. It was a very pretty color - seeing it on film doesn't do it justice. As far as I can tell, at least two 'big bumper' model years were used in this series - initially a 1985 model (first MY in America) as it had a solid air dam and no CHMSL. Later, and this can be seen in episode 4.02 in the street scenes (the dead body 633 was only used inside the parking garage) the slotted air dam and presence of CHMSL suggest a 1987 model was also used.
After that we moved to the 'international bumper' 88' model, documented elsewhere.

Julian USDave and Maddie's standard work car was an XJS in the pilot and an e24 in every other episode including the first half of this one (a 928 and Yugo made guest appearances along the way but they were plot-driven anomalies explained within the episodes in which they appeared). This Vette mysteriously showed up as the duo's ride in the last half of this one episode and was never seen again. No explanation given. I'm not complaining mind you; C4's are terrific - I have one myself. I just wish I knew why they had one too. 2016-03-25 14:52
