Darren_VolvoS80 ![]() | One very beautiful, solid vehicle. One of the nicest cars ever made. They were absolute tanks which is why you still see them on the road today and usually in fairly good condition. Here's the MotorWeek review of this car for 1985, same model: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0NOcj6pgW4 Looks like these were priced at about $13,000 base price in the mid-80s which is roughly starting at $31,000 today. Equivalent vehicle today would be the V90 which have gone up quite a bit in price over the years. -- Last edit: 2018-08-06 04:36:12 |

Commander 57 ![]() | I just prefer the beltline flow and C panel design of the '58 Cadillac sedan, jettalover. It has a smoother, easier-on-the-eyes appearance to me than does the '57. I favor the '58 fin design, too. -- Last edit: 2015-09-08 03:30:45 |

atom ![]() | US state laws forbade quad headlights until 1956. Some US cars had quad headlights in 1957 but not all states allowed them. By 1958 all US cars had quad headlights and it was now legal in all states. Here is a good picture that shows 1957 DeSotos, they where available both with dual and quad headlights depending on where it was sold: Other cars that was sold with quads in 1957 were Lincoln, Cadillac, Nash, Mercury and some more. |

jettalover ![]() | Commander 57: maybe the quad headlamps instead of duel headlamps of previous years helps. Was it just GM that switched to quad headlamps for '58? | 2015-09-07 04:21
Commander 57 ![]() | I have always felt that way, jettalover. Especially the Cadillac. Glad to have someone agree with me! |

jettalover ![]() | These pictures back up my opinion that the various 1958 GM models look better than the '57s. | 2015-09-06 20:43
GodzillaFan54 ![]() | This one of my favorite cars!! Back in those days, this was just another 26-year old convertible. I would be so jealous back then of someone owning a '58 Cadillac!! Those sharp fins look amazing. | 2015-09-06 18:49
GodzillaFan54 ![]() | Rest in Peace, Wes Craven. This movie made many people afraid to go to sleep. The idea of a serial killer who can kill people in their dreams is an excellent idea. | 2015-09-06 18:46

HunterMan ![]() | These police cruisers were shown all the way around in an earlier scene in the movie. This pic is when Johnny Depp's character of Glenn is killed by Freddy. Earlier in the movie Nick Corri's character of Rod Lane was being chased by the cops for supposedly murdering Tina (obviously Freddy really did it). The cop cars in this movie were definitely 1977 Dodge Monacos...not 76 Coronets, nor were they Plymouth Furys. This pic needs to be changed to 77 Dodge Monaco. | 2012-10-17 05:12
HunterMan ![]() | No...if I remember right the trunk of the old Caddy in the junk yard, that held the remains of Freddy, was the back end of an old 59. |

HunterMan ![]() | Most police forces in the late 70's and early 80's used Dodge Monacos. The 80's TV series "Hunter", with Fred Dryer and Stepfanie Kramer, showcased a dark green 1977 Dodge Monaco as Hunter's main car. This police cruiser looks to be one just like that...although Plymouth Fury's were almost an exact match...so it's hard for me to tell for sure in this "grainy" pic. I don't think it's a 1976 Coronet. If we could see the front and/or grill of this car I think we could tell for sure--but I would say it's most likely a Dodge Monaco...1977 or 78, as the way the taillights are lit up look more like the Monaco of those years. -- Last edit: 2012-10-03 06:41:57 |

tore-40 ![]() | As shown in the picture, for the American market, Volvo had dropped the 24x/26x denomination for the early 80s. Also the Bureau of Automotive Repair have "Volvo DL 1984" in their archives. Thus this should be listed on this site as a "1984 Volvo DL (245)". | 2012-06-14 22:48
