Baube QCi'm more shocked about a Nascar T-Bird.. my uncle had two of them and while i do still like the model, they were not exactly race-inspiring cars...

film was made in the early 80's , back then censorship was not as sensitive as today... ;)

tuske427 wrote the red roof/ blue body car in the foreground is definitely a 55 chevy. the taillight cutouts prove that without a doubt. I'm curious about the ones behind it. the next one reminds me of a nova, but something looks odd about the window opening. reflection perhaps?? beyond that the pic gets blurry for me.
It sort of looks like a '68-''70 AMC Javelin/AMX, or it could be a '68-'72 Nova Coupe with the bottom part of the rear side windows filled in.

Yep!!! Sure is!!! Silverado Dually, Listed by Chevy/GMC as "Big Dooley", Since it's used for towing race car trailers, It probably bo doubt has a 454 Big Blick V8.

BLK95TA USI'd guess it's a 1981/82 as the movie was released in 82 and most likely filmed in 81 or 82 and this was a brand new pace car. 2014-03-13 01:34

ahight wrote I forgot how good it was. I also forgot all the people that were in it - Erin Gray, a young Diane Lane, a young Anthony Micheal Hall, etc. I might end up buying this DVD for my collection :)

My favorite line that I've always remembered was when the one kid says that Kenny Rogers went to "shake the dew off his lilly". :D

Funny line. I said that one time, and people looked at me like I was retarted.

tom11I think This one is probably a 1970+, because the 1970 model is a perfect match http://delrio.craigslist.org/cto/2652800614.html while the 1960s ones looked somewhat different http://msamericanpi.bravehost.com/dodge.htm

CougarTim USI will agree that it matches the Dodge. 2011-11-15 17:29
JonsmellmyfartWell the body is hard to figure out, however the chassis must be Dodge because it matches this one witch has a Dodge logo above the grill /vehicle_390988-Dodge-P-Series.html 2011-11-15 16:30
atom SEDifferent roofs (curved vs flat), different wheel arches, different placements of windscreen wipers, different placement of side markers, different bumpers, different wheelbase and I don't find the windows as convincing as you seem to do...

I'm not saying that this can't be an Avan, I don't know enough about them to make that call, I'm just saying that this one doesn't look anything like that Ford.
2011-11-15 03:02
JonsmellmyfartIt matches this /vehicle_390988-Dodge-P-Series.html witch has a dodge logo, the reason I think the both of them are Avan bodied is because the Ford Step van witch is Avan bodied /vehicle_84938-Ford-Postal-Van.html is because its windshield, the window on the door, and the window in between the door and the windshield match this one.

Jonsmellmyfartnearly everything except the grill headlights and turn signals match this Ford step van /vehicle_84938-Ford-Postal-Van.html witch looks like this Avan /vehicle_240780-Avan.html meaning that the Ford step van is Avan bodied, and I know that this is Dodge chassis because the front matches this /vehicle_390988-Dodge-P-Series.html witch has a Dodge badge. 2011-11-13 15:49
atom SENo, you didn't, you noticed the Avan badge when they told you on the other page and that was after you wrote here. Also the van on this page doesn't have a badge, how could you know that this is an Avan if you don't even know what one looks like, let alone exists??? 2011-11-13 14:47

fleetwood75Typhlosion, Sorry, But I have to STRONGLY disagree with you!!! It could VERY WELL also be a Ford!! They were making school bus chassis since the '30s and they were making quite a bit in 1982, So DO NOT FOR ONE MINUTE HIGHLY DOUBT that could be a Ford, Because it could WELL be!! There were quite a few school bus bodies on Ford chassis in '82, You probably just don't remember seeing any or maybe you were too young at the time. 2010-10-28 06:20

fleetwood75I'm guessing this LTD probably has the 351 Windsor HO V8 with the Variable Venturi Carburetor, After '82 I think, Ford no longer offered the 351 Windsor V8 in the LTD and Mercury Marquis (Becoming the LTD Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis in '83 when the Fox bodied LTD and Marquis were introduced.) The only engine available in the LTD Crown Vic/Grand Marquis and the Lincoln Town Car after '83 was the 302 Windsor V8 first with a 2 barrel carb (A 4 barrel may have been optional) & then Electronic Fuel Injection and starting in '86 Sequential Electronic Multiport Fuel Injection, Ford offered the 351 Windsor HO V8 exclusively for police use until '91. 2010-06-10 03:29

an_unusual_eye US1979+ ~ though the rx-7 hit the U.S. market in 1978, it was released as a 1979 model.
2010-06-08 14:18
fleetwood75I'm guessing it's probably about a 22 or 23 footer and I'm almost certain that it has a 460 ci big block V8 with a 4 barrel carb as that was pretty much the standard engine for Ford E-350 cutaway RV chassis at the time, When this movie came out, I owned a 1977 Ford E-350 that had the 460 4 barrel big block V8 and a 27 foot Roll-A-Long camper body which I kept until early '92, My neighbor at the time had the exact same rig except his was a '76, He let me borrow it a few times and I liked it so much I bought mine not long after the last time I borrowed his, I remember I had a bunch of cassettes of Kenny Rogers music I used to play in the tape deck also, However I didn't exactly drive mine as hard as Kenny drove his, I was a lot more "Civilized" so to speak!! 2010-06-06 02:19
