Exiv96 ![]() | The only fourth gen. Civic hatchback with an EE code was the export-spec 1.6 VTEC version. There aren't any VTEC stickers on this car, just "16 valve" ones. Could this be a Japan-spec car ? I'll put an EF code for the moment. | 2020-02-21 07:25

| Axel24 | By plate, it appears it was the same Astina as this one : /vehicle_1034979-Mazda-Astina-BA-1996.html Difference lies only on the second number digit on the plate registration, instead GX 7092, it was GX 7592. |

buhin ![]() | 100% sure Hong Kong Golf V is made in South Africa. But Golf VI is from Germany. There is NO Chinese made cars (except under Chinese makes, e.g. Chery) in Hong Kong. There are several reasons : 1. Specifications totally different : China is LHD, Hong Kong is RHD. And Hong Kong requires Euro IV petrol emission standard. So Chinese made cars are not suitable for Hong Kong market. 2. In general, Hong Kong people think Chinese made cars are worse than the original ones. 3. There is no tax incentive for Chinese made cars. In other words, no matter where the car is manufactured, the registration tax (no import tax but quite first high registration tax in Hong Kong) is the same. So no manufacturer will be so foolish to import Chinese made cars. In Hong Kong market, for passenger cars, there is only one Chinese make (up until now, May 2012), which is Chery. But sales is extremely disappointing, you can barely see one in a month ! In addition, for passenger car market in Hong Kong. Previously it was dominated by the Japanese, especially Toyota. But these few years, Japanese Yen is higher and higher and Japanese cars become more and more expensive. On the other hand, Euro is low, so European cars are cheaper and cheaper. From 2011, according to the registration of official imported cars in Hong Kong, there are more Euro than Japanese. Right now. VW Golf sells slightly cheaper than Toyota Corolla. And Mercedes cheapest E-class is 30% cheaper than Toyota Crown Royal. However, for private bus market, there are quite a lot of Chinese made (China brandnames) buses, e.g. Yutong, King Long, Higger ... etc... mainly due to low low price. -- Last edit: 2012-05-14 16:30:02 |

ingo ![]() | I'm not sure, but from someone I've heard, that from ZA some RHD-models were exported to RHD-countries. But I don't know, if all cars for these markets. I think, also, not only VW is doing this, perhaps BMW, too. |

Gag Halfrunt ![]() | Maybe - do you know whether Volkswagen exports anything from South Africa? Anyway we shouldn't assume that it was made in China | 2010-09-21 23:00
ingo ![]() | Or maybe built in South Africa? | 2010-09-21 22:50
Gag Halfrunt ![]() | This is a right hand drive Golf in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong SAR isn't subject to Chinese import tariffs on cars and most if not all cars sold there are made outside China. It would be much easier for Volkwagen to import Golfs from Germany for the Hong Kong market rather than tool up for right hand drive production in China. | 2010-09-21 17:08
stu ![]() | Built in China | 2010-09-21 17:00

buhin ![]() | There are both official import of Lexus RX and parallel import of Toyota Harrier in Hong Kong. But for those parallel imported Harrier, mostly of them have changed their emblems to Lexus RX 300. More than half of these model seen in Hong Kong are actually parallel import. Actually, this car looks like parallel import since the license shape is Japanese (33 x 16.5 cm), official import should have euro size license plate (52 x 11 cm). -- Last edit: 2010-09-20 19:36:33 |

buhin ![]() | There is no official import for Honda Domani in Hong Kong Kong. This car should be either : 1. modified from Civic by auto parts from Japan; or. 2. private import from Japan (quite a lot of privately imported cars from Japan in Hong Kong). |

Yes, now I know there ARE British ambulances based on MB T1 chassis, but I still have no clue who was the coachbuilder of this one. antp ![]() | No But I like watching Asian movies, there are exotic cars... & girls ![]() These movies have a different style. At a time I watched many Korean ones, but now I find less of these than before; I've heard that they started to make lots of TV series instead. And often these movies are not yet on the site when I watch them, unlike many US productions. -- Last edit: 2008-09-04 14:16:57 |
