zodiac ![]() | @andrepa: - Up until now I have belived that all [W 111] and [W 112] Coupés and Convertibles had wood around the speedometer housing, and that more exclusive wood were used on the [W 112], but that could also be ordered on the [W 111] if you paid for optional extra. I now understand that the 1968+ models had vinyl on the housing, apart from the [W 112] which still had wood. The reason why I have lived in this misunderstanding is that my earliest memory of those coupés is that a friend of mine, which still has a 1966 250 SE/C, in around 1988 came to visit my dad, who used to restore old furnitures but now is retired, to ask about how to varnish the wood around the speedometer housing as the varnish had detoriated during the years because of the sun. My friend has talked a lot about different choices of wood on the facia on those models, which lead me to believe that all [W 111] coupés and convertibles had it. I now understand that is not true. - The white steering wheel was a no cost optional extra and was available all years. |

CougarTim ![]() | Same location: (The Buick wagon and AMC Matador Coupe appear to be in the same place at the bottom of the stack, even) Same location, with a sliver of the red loader visible at far right: (Note the discarded DODGE billboard). The red loader does not appear to be listed for either series, though, so I'm not sure we're any closer. |

CougarTim ![]() | Custom hood bulge. | 2019-01-26 21:44
night cub ![]() | It does. The hood scoop still excludes 1979, and the color looks like a 1979-80 color "Light Medium Blue", so I think this is a 1980-only. The graphics still look familiar, kind of like a Hot Wheels Mustang I had as a kid. | 2019-01-26 21:27

an_unusual_eye ![]() | Not a 240Z... pretty rare car... having the 260Z/280Z tail lights but the smaller "pre-crash bumpers" limits this 260Z to the early part of the 1974 model year. | 2019-01-26 03:35
Reg1992 ![]() | I wonder if the current owner is aware of the car's television career and brags about it. | 2019-01-26 02:41
Reg1992 ![]() | These are nearly extinct now. However there was a 1987 Cavalier I saw still being used as a daily driver near me a couple of years ago. | 2019-01-26 02:25
night cub ![]() | 1969+ headrests Plus I think the round amber turn signals arrived for 1970 on the W108. The ones I've looked up either have bullets or round clear turn signals on 1969 models. The W109 I looked at had clear round in 1970 and amber in 1971. -- Last edit: 2019-01-26 01:37:03 |

dsl ![]() | Sidemarkers on front wings, so 68+. | 2019-01-26 00:48
andrepa ![]() | We can exclude 250 SE by wider plastic grille mash Link to "cdn.classicdigest.com" it could be anything starting with 280 S [W108] Link to "de.wikipedia.org" or even a [W109] as we can't see enough of window framing is in chrome or car color, and if it is long enough Link to "cdn.classicdigest.com" But it smells like [W108] to me. |
2019-01-26 00:29 | ||
andrepa ![]() | If the speedometer housing is made of burl wood it is 220 SE or early 250 SE Link to "i.pinimg.com" if covered with leather it would be a later 250 SE for sure, but the dashboard here seems to be without upholstery. Another detail to be found on both; 220 SE and 250 SE is the white bakelit steering wheel. Link to "cdn.shopify.com" The forward mirror position could be the key to distinguish from each other, as 250 SE seems to have it rather on the door, so i would agree with zodiac. |
